Actor Leonard Nimoy, famous for his portrayal of Mr Spock in the cult sci-fi series Star Trek, has died at the age of 83 in Los Angeles.
He reportedly succumbed to end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on Friday morning.
His career as both an actor and director spanned decades.
But he will mostly be remembered for his role as the half-human, half-Vulcan character in both the TV series and on the big screen.
He was apparently aware of his impending demise when he tweeted: “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.” His final tweet simply ended with “LLAP” – An abbreviation of his character’s famous catchphrase, “Live long and prosper”.
From all of us here at Shangrla and in particular this lifelong Trekkie, we will miss you Mr. Spock.
