BOB SEGER POSTS NEW ALBUM SAMPLER, PROMISES TOUR ‘REBOOT’

Reaffirming that his recovery from a recent surgery is “progressing very well,” Bob Seger is eyeing rescheduled tour dates — and in the meantime, he’s also offering fans a sneak peek at his upcoming I Knew You When album.

As previously reported, Seger was forced to postpone a series of shows in order to deal with what was described as an “urgent medical issue” last month. Not long after leaving the road, Seger assured fans he was already on the mend, explainingthat he’d had to undergo surgery to deal with a vertebrae that was pinching a nerve in his neck, but that it “couldn’t have gone better.”

With that ailment out of the way, it sounds like Seger and his reps are not only rescheduling the dates he missed due to surgery and rehab, but potentially overhauling initial plans for the tour. A new press release promises “rescheduled dates are being mapped out” for what’s described as “a coast to coast reboot of the tour” that’s set to roll out during the spring of 2018.

If all that feels far off at the moment, at least Seger’s I Knew You When LP will soon be in stores to tide you over. Due for a Nov. 17 release, the record is getting one last big promotional push from Seger’s team in the form of a new teaser video, which offers samples of five songs: first single “Busload of Faith,” “I Knew You When,” “Blue Ridge,” “Democracy” and “Gracile.”

With a little more than a month left to go before Bob Seger‘s new I Knew You WhenLP is scheduled to arrive in stores, the veteran rocker has revealed some of the details surrounding the set — including a complete track listing for the regular and deluxe editions.

Slated for a Nov. 17 release and available to pre-order nowI Knew You When marks Seger’s 18th studio release — and arrives on the 49th year of his long-standing association with Capitol Records, making him the longest-tenured solo artist in the label’s history. According to the press release announcing the milestone, Seger’s discography now includes 13 platinum and seven multi-platinum sales awards, as well as a diamond certification for selling 10 million copies of his Greatest Hits LP. I Knew You When follows the 2014 release of Seger’s most recent collection of new material, the No. 3 hit Ride Out.

As previously reportedI Knew You When collects a blend of covers and originals, as well as material that was earlier part of the trove of recordings Seger assembled for Ride Out. The sessions clearly found him in a reflective state of mind with respect to the spate of classic rockers we’ve lost over the last several years; the record’s first single, “Busload of Faith,” is a Lou Reed cover, and a tribute to Seger’s longtime friend Glenn Frey closes out the deluxe edition of the LP — which is dedicated to the Eagles co-founder’s memory.
